A banquet lets the host enjoy the evening.

Everyone shares the same dishes, so there is nothing to coordinate on the night. You choose the banquet, and our team looks after the table.

How to book a group.

  1. Reserve online

    Choose a date and your party size, up to 20 guests. For larger groups, please call us on 9332 1755.

  2. Tell us about dietary needs

    Add any allergies or dietary requirements to the booking notes, and we will plan around them.

  3. Arrive and enjoy dinner

    We do not take a deposit. If your numbers change, please let us know as early as you can.

About group dining at Malabar.

Malabar has served Indian cuisine in Darlinghurst since 2003. The dining room seats 140 guests across 35 tables, and the semi-private area at the rear seats 14 to 20 guests for dinner. Everything is cooked from scratch, with spice blends ground in-house and fresh produce delivered daily. Group banquets start at $79 per person and include unlimited main courses. We are at 274 Victoria Street, Darlinghurst, close to Kings Cross, and groups of up to 20 can reserve online.

Why choose a banquet?

A banquet makes hosting easier. Choose one menu and your guests can share a range of starters and curries at a set price. You can ask for more of the included main courses during the meal. Prefer à la carte? Contact us about pre-ordering for your group.

How do we make the booking run smoothly?

Choose your banquet before the day and tell us about dietary needs, allergies or accessibility needs. Let us know if you’re bringing wine or celebrating an occasion. If your numbers change, call us as soon as you can.

Do you take a deposit?

No deposit is required. If your guest numbers change, please call 02 9332 1755 as early as possible.

How many guests can book online?

You can book online for up to 20 guests. For 21 or more, call 02 9332 1755 and we’ll help arrange your table.

Can guests choose different banquets?

We ask each table to choose one banquet. If some guests are vegetarian or vegan, tell us how many when you book so we can confirm suitable dishes for them.

What does unlimited mean?

You can ask for more of the main courses included in your banquet while dining with us. Starters and dosai are served per person. Banquet food cannot be packed for takeaway.

Can we book the semi-private area?

The semi-private area seats 14 to 20 guests for dinner. A $2,500 minimum spend applies when booking the area on Friday or Saturday. If you’d prefer a table there without reserving the area, ask when booking and we’ll accommodate you if space allows.

Are there surcharges and can we bring wine?

A 10% surcharge applies on Sundays and 15% on public holidays. You’re welcome to bring wine. Corkage is $5 per person. We’re also fully licensed.
