COVID-19

KEEPING YOU SAFE

You may notice a few changes when you dine with us but we are doing everything we can to make it feel as normal as possible. Our restaurant is big enough to make social distancing relatively easy and we have gone above and beyond in terms of cleaning and training to ensure a safe environment for our team and our guests.

You will also notice our customer front staff wear face masks, sanitising stations are placed at strategic points, we record the entry of all guests into the restaurant, contactless payments and contactless digital menus are our preferred choice.
The tables and chairs are sprayed with hospital grade alcohol surface sanitising spray between each sitting.

Open for 50 people!
Reservations – not the same as it was

Dining out again is going to be amazing (!), but with changes.

Your booking now comes with a Leave-by-time.

This allows us to safely prepare and clean for the next guest and we can also plan much better.

Window tables requests will be ignored (sorry!) in favour of distancing.

Malabar is open for 10 guests at a time!

It’s our privilege to invite you to enjoy a meal with us.
We recognise the current situation requires all of us to be more mindful and considering how we approach our daily activities.

Ensuring safety at every stage

Your safety and well-being is our primary concern, and we would like to assure you that we are doing everything in our power to provide an uncompromising level of service with true graciousness of warm hospitality, while maintaining your trust and confidence.

Emphasising our commitment to a safe environment for our guests and staff,
some things have changed in the way we do business.

  • Introduction of an e-menu that can be viewed on your own phones
  • Disposable menus are also available
  • Upon seating, all guests are encouraged to wash their hands or use the hand sanitiser provided
  • Our staff are regularly washing their hands with anti-microbial hand wash. The same hand wash is available for our customers to use to wash their hands in our guest bathrooms.
  • Chairs and tables are sanitised with hospital grade sanitiser between each seating
  • High contact areas such as door handles, balustrades, EFTPOS machines, iPad’s and phones are regularly cleaned with disinfectant and sanitised
  • When you collect food for takeaway, we will place the food on a table or tray for you to pick up, rather than directly handing it to you

Maintaining highest standards of hygiene

About the Crockery, Cutlery and Glassware

For both front and back of house, we use Winterhalter Dishwasher Systems – essentially the Rolls Royce of dishwashers. It is hospital grade cleaning, with very high wash temperatures. It got its own water treatment system with water softening, demineralisation and reverse osmosis.

So, why do you need to know what dishwasher we use?

We don’t polish any glasses!
Because our German Winterhalter does it for us.

Winterhalter Dishwasher for Glass washes all our glassware at 93 degrees, and then dries them for us. We never ever hand polish any of our glassware. Less human contact, more clean. Ever wondered how we manage those gigantic wine glasses? Because, Winterhalter. So easy.

We don’t wipe our plates dry!
Because our German Winterhalter does it for us.

In the kitchen, we have Winterhalter ware washer, it does it all for us. A quick rinse before moving racks of plates into the dishwasher, and then the machine works its magic. The detergents – formulated in their own German laboratory developed for maximum effectiveness – ensures our plates are sanitised and sparkling clean (and not wiped dry by a grummy towel stored in a corner.)

We don’t polish cutlery!
Because our German Winterhalter does it for us.
Cutlery is pre-soaked with detergents, then washed at 93 degrees, then sorted, then washed again at 93 degrees and dried inside the machine. This means squeaky clean knives and forks which are not touched by human hands.

Why are we telling you all you all this? Because we want you feel safe and confident to visit us.

We are ready to welcome you for a remarkably safe visit, where caution is the new norm.

March 23, 2020

Malabar is not able to offer dine in for the time being in support of fighting the COVID-19.
Until then, we are offering contactless pickup and delivery service with expanded delivery areas.

Like you, we have been following the latest news of COVID-19.

We are taking the situation very seriously and it means we are taking every possible precaution to ensure the safety and well being of our guests and team.

We want to take this opportunity to assure you of our high standards of hygiene and cleaning already in place. Additionally, for everyone’s wellbeing, we are also sanitising the restaurant multiple times a day, added extra hours cleaning, and further to this, we have reinforced with our team the importance of monitoring their own health and if they feel unwell or are showing signs of illness, they are to remain at home.

As a small business, we hope that you will continue to dine with us, whether its is in-house, takeaway or delivery, and enjoy our hospitality with full confidence, and give us the opportunity to provide you with a place to enjoy delicious Indian cuisine.

Thank you for your continued support and loyalty.
